Joe Maddalena and Alex Brewer strengthen Barney Maddison’s performance team.

Taking steps to ensure optimal care and development for our players, Maddalena steps into the Head of Medical Services role, supported by Scarlett Wood and Andrew Stevens, whilst Brewer – supported by Gemma Thompson and Uzzy Anwar – will direct the Performance Analysis department as Lead Performance Analysis.

Speaking on the announcements, Head Coach Barney Maddison said:

“I’m pleased that Joe and Alex [Brewer] will continue their work with us, and together with their teams, we’ve got a very strong staff supporting the squad. We have elite ambitions on the field, and our off field matches that.”

A request from a member of the Trailfinders Family:

“Some of you may remember me from my time at Ealing back in 2016 to COVID year.

I’m currently working on a project as part of my final year at university and would really appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete a survey. It’s related to bridging the gap between state schools and private schools to enable rugby career progression for all.

Your input would be incredibly valuable to me. Here’s the link to the survey: https://forms.office.com/e/g9ivunE7mk

If you could distribute it to everyone and anyone you may or not know in the rugby industry it would be greatly appreciated. The more answers the better!!

Thanks so much for your time and help!
Cheers,
Felix”

A sunny Sunday morning welcomed teams of minis to Trailfinders Sports Club for the annual Middlesex Under 9s’ Festival. Ealing RFC U9s played host to 436 players making up 38 teams from 15 clubs. We welcomed players, coaches and supporters from across Middlesex ranging from Hackney RFC in the East through Old Grammarians and Pinner in the North, to Grasshoppers and Teddington in the South.

As the sun shone down on pitches 3, 4 and 5, the rugby got underway. The grass pitches were in perfect condition, with only small patches of muddy ground in the paddock. The three Ealing under 9 teams showed what they’ve been practising over their first season of the contact game, demonstrating their tackling, offloading and running skills. After each team had their 6 matches over the course of the morning, we had several hundred tired but happy U9s on site after a great morning of rugby.

A day like this can’t happen without a lot of work from our volunteers.  The coaches kept the energy levels up and took turns to referee, and the U9 parents tirelessly marked out pitches, marshalled the schedule and gave first aid.  Particular thanks to the 1871 men, who donned the yellow vest and kept order in the car park.

We are delighted to announce that Barney Maddison will continue as Head Coach for the 2025/26 season.

Stepping into the Head Coach role at the start of the 2024/25 season, Maddison quickly made his mark with excitement and a potent attack a hallmark of his first year in charge.

Maddison’s extension ensures continuity as the club looks to build upon the progress already made, as well as the push for greater achievement in the seasons ahead.

Following his extension, Maddison said:

“I’m thrilled to continue the work we’re doing here at the club – it’s an exciting project with a lot of potential…”
