Trailfinders Women Welcomes Niamh Gallagher

Trailfinders Women are delighted to announce the signing of Ireland U20 international Niamh Gallagher ahead of the 24/25 season.

Gallagher, who started playing rugby at Enfield Ignatians is a promising playmaker who impressed in this summers U20 Six Nations series in Parma.

She displayed a well rounded game at full back featuring defensive stability coupled with dynamism when she has the ball in hand.

Signing for Trailfinders, Gallagher said: “I’m really looking forward to being apart of the Trailfinders family and can’t wait to be apart of the bright future of the club!”

Trailfinders Women Welcomes Sally Williams

Trailfinders Women are delighted to announce the signing of Sally Williams from Loughborough Lightning ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The back row scored 25 appearances for the Lightning, scoring three tries during her time in the Midlands.

Williams’ signing brings another leader into the squad, having captained the Lightning against Trailfinders in the Allianz Cup.

Signing for Trailfinders, Williams said: “I’m really excited about this new chapter in my rugby career. Trailfinders are an awesome team, who’ve had a great start to the premiership league, and signing with a team like them for the 2024/2025 season will definitely help me to grow as a player! I’m massively looking forward to preseason and excited to be a part of the journey Trailfinders are on !”

Trailfinders Women Welcomes Lisa Thomson

Trailfinders Women are delighted to announce the signing of GB7s Olympian and Scotland star Lisa Thomson.

Thomson rose up through the ranks playing for East of Scotland under-18s, Scotland under-18s and under-20s.

The playmaker made her full international debut against England at Broadwood in the 2016 Six Nations opener, and Thomson went on to captain her country on multiple occasions, including the 2021 Rugby World Cup.

Most recently Thomson was named in the GB7s squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics, making her Trailfinders Women’s fifth Olympian.

Joining Trailfinders Women, Thomson said: ““I’m really looking forward to returning to the premiership with Trailfinders. There’s a strong group of players that have been playing an exciting brand of rugby. I cant wait to get stuck in and hopefully contribute to the growth of the team.”

Trailfinders Women and Activate Learning Partnership

Trailfinders Women have signed partnership with Activate Learning to deliver an elite high performance girls’ pathway. The programme will be delivered out of Activate Learning’s excellent City of Oxford College Centre Campus. The programme will provide:

  • Outstanding professional coaches, strength and conditioning staff, analysis and medical support.
  • Pastoral support and guidance.
  • 15hrs + of dedicated contact time each week with full-time rugby staff.
  • Access to A Levels and BTEC courses.
  • Outstanding accommodation on site providing an immersive rugby and academic experience.
  • Quality playing and training facilities including artificial and grass pitches, as well as state of the art Strength & Conditioning facilities and pool.
  • The opportunity to study an additional sporting qualification- Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE), for selected students
  • Compete in the highest standard of girls college rugby in the UK, with squads in both the ACE League and AOC Premier competition.
  • Scholarships and bursary through Trailfinders Women’s performance pathway
  • Coaching support from Trailfinders Women’s players and professional coaches
  • A defined pathway from college through Brunel University towards Trailfinders Women’s PWR rugby.

Ealing Trailfinders 1871 News

After a month of Strength and Conditioning taking place at Vallis Way and at other gyms around the country the Ealing Trailfinders 1871 Men resumed pitch-based training on 2nd July.

 

This continues each Tuesday and Thursday, interrupted by friendly fixtures at Vallis Way against Twickenham on Saturday 17th August and Old Priorian on Thursday 29th August 2024.

Trailfinders Women Welcomes Hannah Owen

Trailfinders Women are excited to announce the singing of Hannah Owen from Harlequins ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The hooker arrives from our West London rivals after mainly featuring in the cup for Quins last season.

Owen will be looking to add strength and stability to a front row contingent growing in size and class ahead of the new campaign.

Signing for Trailfinders, Owen said: “Im excited to get to work and develop under Giselle and the team.  There is a real sense of community at Trailfinders and I am looking forward to being a part of it.”

Trailfinders Women Welcomes Sarah Denholm

Trailfinders Women are thrilled to announce the signing of Scotland International Sarah Denholm ahead of the 24/25 season.

The fly-half debuted in 2019, wearing the thistle for the first time against Wales at Scotstoun Stadium.

Most recently, she has plied her trade for Edinburgh in the Celtic Challenge, captaining the side to a second-place finish in the competition’s inaugural season.

Joining Trailfinders, Denholm said: “I am so excited to join Trailfinders and can’t wait for the season ahead. It’s been exciting seeing the squad thrive in the PWR, setting such great foundations for the years ahead.

“It’s obvious that the team strive to play an expansive, fast paced style of rugby which suits how I like to play. I’m certain that the club will help me to push on both as a player and as a person and I can’t wait to get started!”

PWR Up Series Fixtures

Fixtures for the innovative PWR Up Series have been confirmed ahead of its debut this September.

Three weekends of fixtures will act as a warm-up for all nine Premiership Women’s Rugby clubs before their launch into league action on Saturday 5 October.

Clubs have been grouped together into regional pools of three and will play one another once across three weekends.

Ealing Trailfinders Welcomes Jeneiro Wakeham

Ealing Trailfinders are thrilled to announce the signing of Jeneiro Wakeham from Stade Français ahead of the 24/25 campaign.

The towering Fijian second row stands at six feet and ten inches, making Wakeham a brilliant addition to any set piece.

The former Suva Grammar School student was part of the Fiji Rugby Union’s Elite Player Pathway program, and was also named in the Fijian Warriors 47-member squad.

After making the trip across the channel, Wakeham said: “”I’m hugely excited about signing for Ealing Trailfinders. They’re a very ambitious club who are aiming to play in the top competitions. They are keen to develop and upskill players as well as play an attractive brand of rugby.

“The facilities and Coaching set up here are second to none which will only benefit me with my rugby. The club and boys have made me feel very welcome and I can’t wait to get started!”

Trailfinders Women Welcomes Grace Moore

Trailfinders Women are delighted to announce the signing of GB7s Olympian and Scotland star Lisa Thomson.

Trailfinders Women are thrilled to announce the signing of Ireland International Grace Moore from Saracens ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Moore started her rugby journey at Streatham and Croydon RFC and has gone on to achieve great success in the game.

The back row is a dangerous ball carrier and was a vital cog in Ireland’s WXV 3 win and third-place finish in the 2024 Women’s Six Nations.

After signing on the dotted line, Moore said: “I’m delighted to have signed with Trailfinders, and I can’t wait to start my new adventure here. I am looking forward to challenging myself to becoming the best player I can be and working alongside Giselle and the coaching team.”
